Entering Art Competitions

Award-winning Painting
If you're an artist considering ways of gaining exposure and credentials, then a great way is to enter art competitions.
The traditional way has been to physically enter via a printed form and then take your art somewhere to be displayed. However, the times have changed and online competitions and galleries are becoming mainstream now. There are some benefits of which a few are listed below:
1) Cost is usually minimal for the artist
2) The time involved in uploading photos of your artwork and filling in the forms online is usually pretty quick
3) Depending on how internet-active the gallery or show is, your work may be shown to thousands of people
4) You get to see the results and how many artworks were entered which gives you an idea how your work compared
5) It's very encouraging for artists to have outside recognition about our artwork, especially if we have won an award

One such online competition I entered lately is through the 'Light Space and Time Gallery'. It was quite a thrill to open the email to read that my painting 'Mt Oates and Kiwi Sign, Arthur's Pass, NZ' (pictured above) was placed in the Award Winning category above more than 700 entries. It's also nice to be able to show the ribbon and/or certificate to my supporters and clients.
