Join Us in June for 30:30 ... Day 12

Self Portrait 1 (the easy way!)
Day 12
Today I created a bit of fun, with kind help from well-known NZ artist Dick Frizzell who showed me his self-portrait and gave me instructions on how to get started. This is something you can easily do and have a laugh at yourself at the same time - I don't actually have those deep wrinkles on my forehead!
All you need to do is take a really basic 'selfie' and print it out on ordinary photocopy paper. Then you simply colour it in using whatever materials you have, poster paints, pencils, crayons etc. I used liquid acrylics. Simple!
I wouldn't mind making a more serious attempt at this some time, and then if I get really brave ... have a go at a proper self-portrait. It's rather strange studying myself but I learnt a bit even from this simple exercise about tones and shapes.
Back to the general topic of our challenge, you might like to visit our Facebook page Join Us in June for 30:30 to see what has been created already this month.
That's it for today
