100 Days Project - Why do it?

The Golden Velvet of the Lindis Pass, New Zealand
Yes, I know I said I'd never do another 100 paintings in 100 days ... :-/
Let me tell you about some of the benefits with an except from my press release and you might understand why I'm starting down this track again!
Six ‘Artists of Canterbury’ have set themselves the goal of completing 100 artworks each in 100 days. It’s part of a bigger New Zealand led, movement around the world called the ‘100 Days Project’ which covers any projects that can be done in a day, from writing, cooking, to art etc. Our ‘Artists of Canterbury’ are Carol Moffatt, Angela Mole, Gaby Reade, Linelle Stacey, Deanna Gracie and Ruth Reid. They’re already underway and working in their studios. However, they plan to meet every few weeks for a bit of a ‘show and tell’, camaraderie and encouragement. It’s not only a way to beat the winter blues, it’s also a great way to set new goals in work habits.
1) Big projects like this help keep momentum going.
2) It requires organisation and can help develop new habits and a bit of fortitude!
3) You don’t need to feel motivated to produce a masterpiece, just turn up to your daily project and get on with it.
4) Knowing that others are also working away on their projects keeps a certain amount of accountability
5) It’s a great opportunity to try new things
6) It could spell the end of your procrastination!
To make it much easier and more enjoyable for myself, this time I have company of local artist friends who have all committed to doing their own individual projects. Here we are (Carol Moffatt, Gaby Reade, Linelle Stacey, Deanna Grace, Angela Mole and Ruth Reid) on day 1 having lunch together and posing with our first contributions at our hosts Carol and Murray Moffatt.

Starting date 22 May 2017
Finishing date 29 August 2017
I'll try to report back every 10 days with our progress.
Cheerio for now
Ruth
