60/100 Really? Yes, really!

The last week has been the toughest so far, in spite of having heaps of encouraging feedback.  For some reason over 50 seemed like just over half way (which it is) rather than the positive way of looking at it - that I was now counting the numbers down.  Once I got to 58 then it seemed that it might be achievable again.  Anyway, here I am at 60 - YAY!

The publicity has been unexpected but a real buzz.  Having our city's main newspaper "The Press" doing an article followed by a live National Radio NZ interview has brought lots of New Zealanders to my website, along with a number of overseas visitors.  It is rather humbling to think that my project is inspiring other people.

However that's not all, next week CTV is apparently coming round to do an interview in my studio!  This has all stemmed from a very simple email I wrote to the press a few weeks ago.  So, if you are doing something that you think others just might be interested in ... then it's worth doing a small press release, because it could just be considered newsworthy.  The feedback really is helping me keep on keeping on every day.

Well 60's a big deal and you keep coming up with some fresh new paintings and ideas, I really like the atmosphere of your lastest one of the Cathedral Caves.

Thanks Mel, I was pretty happy with the way Cathedral Caves turned out too. I took various photos inside and outside those majestic caves. We even found a penguin inhabiting one of them.

Keep up the good work Ruth. I am Ruths friend Sue and have had the privelege and enjoyment of sharing painting with her on Mondays of this challenge. We chat and generally bounce ideas around as we paint. Sometimes we dont look at one anothers work till lunchtime or even later. For me its always exciting to finally see her painting, as I have heard the assertive strokes of the pallette knife on her canvas throughout the morning.

I love the Sparrow Ruth.
The other great thing about going to Ruths on Mondays is that I get to see the work she has done in the past week. She never ceases to amaze me!!

Thanks Sue, your encouragement and support during this epic challenge is much appreciated!

It was a treat to go to your exhibition last night. I thought your work looked great and is so relevant for a 'coastal artist'. You can be proud of it.

It was fantastic that the sculptor who is deaf and blind was also exhibiting. It's amazing to think of what he was able to accomplish and that he could communicate in spite of the obvious obstacles. To realise what an intelligent person he was with such a burden but who was positive and excited when I spent a bit of time with him was very humbling! I'm not surprised that you bought a dog sculpture of his some time ago. I would have been seriously tempted if there was one for sale. Anyway, I'm a soft touch with animals and I loved his guide dog being there!

You are so good at snow and mountains Ruth! Lovely work!.Also the rooster is a gorgeous chap! needs a hen I think!
Thanks for coming along to the exhibition last nght. I wasnt invited to exhibit till Wednesday so it was a wonderful affirmation for me to have my work amongst 'good' artists .
Yes Donalds work is very good and I love my sculpture classes working alongside him.Bon is a great person and teacher.

Another enjoyable Monday with Ruth!! .
I found her lounging on her swinging chair ,coffee in hand....I wasn't sure if she was leaning sideways as she was too exhausted to sit up.!!!?? but she assured me she was just enjoying the moment with the dog and the masses of butterflies in her Budlea.
Nevertheless this challenge has got to be exhausting! day 68 I think.
Go Ruth!

That penny is awesome Ruth!

Thanks again Sue. Yes we had another good day painting. Fabulous weather too. So nice to sit outside for lunch and watch those monarch butterflies flitting about.

Take care travelling south tomorrow and have fun with your son and grandson too.

See you in a couple of Mondays. R x
