40/100 Sounding a bit more 'do-able'

Haven't we had some fabulous weather for winter over the past week or so.  It's been 10 days since I last blogged which brings me to the grand number of forty.  Forty days and forty paintings later and I'm still plodding on.  I've had some good days and some not so good days.  I'm pretty happy with some of the progress too.

You might like to know that our main city newspaper 'The Press' is planning an article on this 100 Paintings in 100 Days Challenge.  A photographer came around to my studio on Friday evening and took heaps of photos, then a reporter came around on Saturday afternoon.  Apparently the article will be in Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday's issue although these non-urgent stories sometimes get put on the back-burner if something more dramatic comes along.  As my son Brendon said "A lot of people are going to know if you don't manage to make the 100".  Quite so!  However, I'm still working hard and so long as I don't get any winter bugs I'll be giving it a really good try.

I've been trying to get an extra painting done so that I can have a day off at some stage, but somehow it hasn't happened yet.  Finishing one painting a day seems to be the maximum output that I can manage although I'm definitely getting faster and more confident.

Keep well

Ruth

Hi from over the tasman. I like this one. take care, keep warm, and keep on painting. You're getting closer. Maybe I will be able to join you for a paint day too before the hundred days are up. xxxxx

Thanks Heather. If you're in New Zealand before the 26th of September (the official end date) then you'd be most welcome to come and join me for some painting and for a good social catch-up at the same time. If you haven't got easy access to your art gear then I've got plenty here that you can use.

Forty days (and I suspect) forty nights painting. Well done.

You are right there Mel, I've had a few late nights but still smiling :-)

I arrived at Ruths studio this morning to find her relaxing in her garden on her swinging seat with a cup of coffee in hand. A lovely sight and well earned as she has hit the 40 days!!

Mondays with Ruth are a highlight in my week. Thanks Ruth!

It's a two-way deal Sue. We've had some pretty good painting sessions.. Fifty-nine painting days to go, so there are still a fair few more Mondays and it's great to have encouraging company thanks.

I was driving down Marine Parade on Wednesday and decided to turn on the radio. I caught an interviewer asking about paintings and thought that this would be intesting to hear. Then as I listened a bit more I heard the artist talking about painting cows and large canvases, and then the mind started to compute that I knew this person.I pulled over to listen more carefully! Well blow me down! it was Ruth being interviewed on National Radio! I listened all the way home and then ran inside to call her.I cant believe that I happened to be at the right place at the right time and did the right thing!!turn on the radio! God is good!

It really is surprising what you hear sometimes isn't it Sue? And, it's surprising how many people I know who were listening at that time. I was also amazed that National Radio even rang to interview me and there have been some great responses. I've managed to put a link to the interview in a new category in the menu called 'In the News!'

Holy Cow!!ss
Love the Crevasse!
Very cute tractor for James and I recognised Mel.

Thanks Sue, I quite like the crevasse too. Will be interesting to see what James' family think of themselves when they see the tractor painting!
