Light in the Lindis Pass
Light in the Lindis Pass

It seems like a milestone, I've done a fifth of my challenge.  Today it was great to have my good friend Sue Alderman as a painting companion as she worked on an exciting jungle painting and I had fun with a palette knife, oils and an abstract design.

Since I last blogged, I've been sorting through even more of my old photos looking for special places to paint.  Hundreds of 'paintings' have been planned, but many of them would be too difficult for me to attempt in a day at this stage.  Hopefully all this practice will give me the confidence to try my hand at anything that inspires me in the future.  It's been really nice to reminisce and dream a bit in the meantime.

My favourite over the past ten paintings is the 'Light in the Lindis Pass' which is especially about happy memories of trips through the Pass to ski-fields over the years. I've always loved the light falling on those hills reminding me of golden velvet.

We've had a warm week for the middle of July, but the forecasters have warned us that we should expect the usual cold winter conditions to be with us for the next wee while, so keep warm and safe.

... and i've just looked at your new painting 'bonfire' I like the rocks around it.

Well I like the fern, bright crisp clean colours but that's just a non painters opinion! Look forward to seeing them all in the flesh if that's what you call it. See you tonight.

Thanks Mel, I think you're right about the rocks as they were painted very loosely but actually thinking about rocks. The rest of the painting was abstract and it was only afterwards that I 'saw' the bonfire and decided to add the rocks.

That reminds me, I must get the venison out of the freezer so I can make that dish I was telling you about for dinner. See you later - Mum.

I like this one, the lighting on the foothills looks good

Thanks Jacinda, I always love it if I travel through the Lindis Pass either early or late in the day when the light makes all those golden tussocks look like velvet.

It was a lovely day together.Thankyou for your company and open door.
